Charming Jekyll Island Club Resort by Amy Dundon: During a recent visit to Jekyll Island I captured this image of the club resort hotel. Jekyll Island Club Resort is a historic hotel built in 1887. At that time wealthy families (i.e. Rockefellers, Morgans, and Vanderbilts) vacationed on the southern island to escape the Northern winters. In 1950 the state of Georgia opened the island as a state park and it has been protected from extensive development. The Jekyll Island Club Resort is a perfect location for families to experience the elegance and charm that was once enjoyed by America’s wealthiest families.
