Our Lady de la Leche Shrine features a photographic image of this historical site of the first parish Mass on September 8,1565. This is the first shrine dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the United States. The Mission Nombre de Dios originated with the founding of the city of St. Augustine, which is America’s oldest city. Additional areas on the mission grounds include a museum with gift shop, Great Cross, a rosary garden, and stations of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The grounds are located north of downtown St. Augustine.
We have visited St. Augustine many times over the years. It is a great place to visit with lots of history and amazing art galleries. The beach is very close also for those who love sun and surf! The Christmas Lights are impressive and a wonderful time of year to visit. My husband and I were married in Florida and had photographs taken on the grounds of Mission Nombre De Dios in front of The Great Cross and Our Lady de la Leche Shrine chapel. We visited...
Artist & Occupational Therapist Amy studied art (drawing, painting) and photography in high school and in college. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design and worked for many years as a graphic designer for a real estate company and then a design, print, and mail company. During that time Amy went back to school and obtained a Master of Occupational Therapy degree. She currently works full time as an occupational therapist in a school system but is reigniting her love for art and photography mixed together with her interest in gardening, flowers, nature, and animals.
