Carroll Hall Shelby (January 11, 1923 – May 10, 2012) was an American automotive designer, racing driver, and entrepreneur. In 1959 Mr. Shelby won the 24 Hours of Le Mans while driving an Aston Martin. In 1960 he retired from racing secondary to a heart condition. In 1962, Mr. Shelby created Shelby American and in 1991 he established the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation.
